Since the 1980s, we have observed an increasing tendency o f specialized services like producer services to leave their « natural habitat » in the center o f large met ropolitan areas in order to re loc at e in suburban zones. This phenomenon is particularly apparen t in North American citi es and seems to be occurring around certain French cities too. The economic transition in Poland leads to a restructuration of economic activities which affects spatial patterns of cities, especially in Warsaw. Analyzing the location and re-location of population and employment in Poland’s capital allows to enlarge the debate on the suburbanization forms to the Central and Oriental European Countries. The results support the fact that the city center is still largely the most important district in terms of population andemployment, so that in 1999 the city keeps a strong monocentric character. ACL; International audience; II existe à l'heure actuelle très peu d'études sur la localisation et la diffusion des sites Internet compte tenu de la rareté des sources qui n'intègrent pas pour la plupart la dimension géographique (échelle nationale). A partir des fichiers de l'AFNIC, il est possible de spatialiser l'implantation des sites Internet uniquement à l'échelle des codes postaux. Pour évaluer la situation de la diffusion des sites Internet en milieu rural, le zonage en aire urbaine (ZAU) fournit une grille spatiale d'analyse pertinente.En août 1999, seulement 10 % des 40 000 sites recensés sont localisés en zone rurale et autant en milieu périurbain.
